Our Story

 

I started to dream of opening a boutique in 2008. In that year, I met a lovely girl in Beijing, China, my hometown. She was running a boutique at that time. All the items in the shop were curated by herself and she was knowledgeable, familiar with every single feature of the products, even the special design of a button on a cardigan. What was amazing, was that she understood her customers very well, for example, their colour and fabric preference, and styles, thus she could make proper recommendations. Also, she communicated with customers (including myself), asking what we would most want, so that she could purchase from her suppliers.

She offered a personalised, considered service, as I could always get what I want – that saved me a lot of time and money as she offered me access to many wonderful products which were carefully curated with me in mind.

I love the way she ran her boutique and hoped that I could do the same.

7 years ago I moved to New Zealand and since then I have struggled with the options available. Also, I am a busy mother of two therefore I don’t have much time to shop. I started to order from overseas websites, however, I noticed that most of the cases the products could not meet my expectations: sizing is not right, quality is not as stated on the website, import duty and tax, complicated returning process, etc. Luckily, there are still a small number of products that surprised me and I loved them very much – then an idea came to me: why don't I open a boutique where I could stock those products I love on the shelves? I have tried them and could give customers advice to help them make decisions. I trust this will reduce the risk for my customers, and will save them time and money.

Also, I could make the most of my 20+years working experience in the import & export sector as I am familiar with import & export regulations, the Customs Declaration process, logistics management etc. which could significantly reduce logistics costs but with highest service level for both New Zealand and International customers.

I can’t wait to introduce Atala Boutique to my lovely customers –  the boutique I  opened in August 2024!  I welcome you, and look forward to meeting you soon.
